Biography

Driven by grit and gumption and her lifelong motto to “leave things better than you find them,” Leanne Caret is globally renowned for breathing new life into businesses, creating growth, and transforming how industries invest in technology for a successful future. As President and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), she created stability and growth in a $34 billion business during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by securing critical revenue and liquidity to offset a steep downturn in the company’s commercial business.

Caret served in a broad variety of senior roles including chief financial officer of BDS and President of Boeing Global Services and Support before she became the first woman to lead one of Boeing’s three global business units. Over a 34-year career at Boeing, she built a reputation as a deliberate, decisive,and inspiring leader, consistently motivating teams around the world to excel and using her platform to champion equity and inclusion and to accelerate diversity.

An expert on creating growth amidst tech disruption and other global challenges, Caret now serves as a Senior Advisor to Blackstone and as a Director on the boards of Deere & Company and Raytheon Technologies. Additionally, she serves on the boards of FIRST Robotics, Kansas State University Foundation, and USO Inc. She also serves on the George W. Bush Women’s Initiative Policy advisory council, the Virginia Tech National Security Institute advisory board and the Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute advisory board.

Caret is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.  She earned an MBA from Wichita State University and a BS in Business Administration from Kansas State University. She lives with her husband, Steve, in Dallas.
